Splinter Cell Conviction Demo Walkthrough – Hutch (SCC Gameplay/Commentary) Gearing up for the release of the full game, Hutch walks you guys through the upcoming demo. Stealthy or Run and Gun? You make the call, but it definitely pays off to be more stealthy (as you will see).
First thoughts? This game will not disappoint!
Kill the Military Personnel
After the opening cutscenes have commenced and you have control of Alex, you’ll be tasked with killing the five Blackwatch troopers near your starting position. Follow the onscreen prompts to perform some basic and special attacks until all five are toast.
Go to Times Square
You must now go to Times Square, which is south of your current position and marked on your map. En route, try sprint along the walls. You can also try your airdashing move, which you’ll perform by sprinting midair, and the gliding move, which you’ll perform by holding the sprint button and jumping midair. The area is crawling with the Infected, but you can get by just fine by ignoring them.
However you get there, keep moving until you reach the destination point in Times Square.
Kill the Military Personnel
Now that you’ve got some claws to wreak some serious havoc, use them to kill the Blackwatch troopers near the sandbags. Try out the various combos and special attacks available with the claws. If you need help finding any stray troopers, just check your minimap. Jumping and pressing the special attack button works well.
Continue Down Times Square
If you took any damage in the last skirmish, you should try consuming someone (grab your victim and press the Special Attack button) to regain energy. Otherwise, head south to the next destination point.
Destroy the Tanks
You must deal with four tanks now, but with your new Hammerfist power, this’ll be a snap! Sprint over to the nearest tank (they’re marked on your minimap with skull icons) and use Hammerfist combos to completely destroy it. A good attack is the Hammerfist Elbow Slam, which can be performed by jumping and hitting the Special Attack button midair. Keep an eye out for missiles being fired at you, and be ready to dodge them if necessary. A good strategy is to just stay on the move constantly.
Once you’ve destroyed the four tanks, kill off any Blackwatch troopers in the area. If you need health, remember to consume them!
Continue Down Times Square
Head toward the next destination point to the south. On the way you’ll run into some troopers on the building tops, so run up the buildings and attack, or hit them with a missile launcher from a neighboring building. Cut through their ranks until you reach the destination point to the south.
Kill the Hunters
Hunters are no joke: they’re big, tough, and when they gang up on you, you’ll have to be deft at maneuvering around their attacks. With your new Blades power at your disposal, approach a lone Hunter, grab it, throw it to the ground, then hit it with Blade combos. If multiple Hunters attack, you’ll need to be sprightlier. Hit one, diveroll to avoid retaliation, then jump and perform a midair attack before rolling away again.
Keep this up until all Hunters are defeated. Be sure to grab the red health orbs afterward to keep your energy high.
Consume the Commander
The Blackwatch is sending in a small army to deal with you now: troopers, tanks, and the new gunship helicopter. When the gunship swoops down low, cut it with your blades, or better yet, toss a vehicle at it! Wipe out the tanks as you did before, and cut through the troopers as you head north back toward where you started this mission. Alternatively, you could just wall run and glide to the north, avoiding all combat (but where’s the fun in that?).
When you reach the Commander to the north (he’s marked with a blue arrow), grab him and consume him to end the mission.
Jump Over the Gate to Escape
This mission starts 18 days before the previous mission, so you have almost none of the powers you had then, and will just have to make do with your limited abilities for the time being.
To exit the Gentek Facility, charge your jump and sprint toward the gate, then release the jump to clear the gate.
Escape the Gentek Facility Area
A Blackwatch helicopter catches wind of your escape, and while you may be tempted to hurl a car at it to destroy it, another will come along to take its place, so don’t bother just yet. Sprint or wall run to the destination point marked on your map.
Destroy the Helicopter
After you dodge the missile the helicopter fires at you, you’ll suddenly find yourself with a taxi in your hands. Gee, what should we do with it? I know! Hurl it at the helicopter! Lock onto the chopper and chuck the vehicle at it to destroy it and move on to the next objective.
Wall Run to the Top of the Building
Before you go sprinting up the sides of the buildings, take a few moments to kill the Blackwatch troopers on the ground first to earn some Evolution Points (EP).
When you’re ready, wall run up a nearby building and jump to the glass skyscraper to the southwest. Keep running or wall jumping all the way to the top.
Destroy the Helicopters
Two helicopters are honing in on your position, and they must go down! Quickly grab the nearest air-conditioning unit off the roof, target a helicopter, and chuck it. Keep this up to destroy both choppers.
Afterward you’ll receive your first memory [Lt. James Goodwin], which is part of the Web of Intrigue.
Consume the Blackwatch Commander
You’re now wearing a trooper uniform. The Commander will approach you, so run up to him, grab him, and then consume him. You’ll gain his memory [Lt. Charles Perri], which is added to the Web of Intrigue.
Go to Dana’s Apartment
With your Disguise power now unlocked, head west to the destination point disguised as the Commander to prevent most enemy attacks. Alternatively, fight the troopers en route for EP.
Go to the Overlook to Investigate the Area
Climb to the roof of the building with the Shoe Depot store at ground level, and head to the destination point.
Enter Dana’s Apartment Without Being in Alert
Read the onscreen notes on your Alert Status, then disguise yourself as the Commander. Return to the ground now and approach the entrance to the apartment. When you reach the destination point, the mission ends.
Get to Your Apartment
You begin to the west of Times Square, so sprint northeast through Central Park to your apartment as marked on your map. Try jumping from building to building to make the trip even shorter. Continue until you reach the apartment, and watch the cutscene there.
Kill Any Marines Attempting to Radio for Support
When you have control of Alex again, immediately target the marine who’s radioing for backup, and kill him (or better yet, consume him). If he gets his message out, you’ll have to fight off a whole strike team, and you just don’t want that. Once he’s dead, deal with the other marines, making any who start calling in support on their radios your #1 priority.
If you fail to stop the marines from calling in backup, you’ll have to evade or kill the team. You can evade the team by escaping the area or disguising yourself as someone else. Killing the team, however, earns you more EP.
Locate the Agent at the Extraction Point/Get to the Extraction Point Before the Helicopter
Follow the waypoints until you reach the APC parked by the bridge.
Damage the APC to Force the Blackwatch Agent Out
Now, you could do as the objective says and damage the APC by picking up a marine’s missile launcher until the Agent runs out, but we recommend disguising yourself as a marine (if you consumed one earlier) and radioing an All Clear to get the Agent to come out. Sneaky!
Consume the Agent Before He Reaches the Helicopter
Sprint to the Agent now, grab him, and consume him. If he reaches the copter, you’ll fail the mission, so run fast! By consuming him you’ll obtain a Web of Intrigue memory [Cptn. Mac Marshall].
Evade or Defeat Nearby Enemies to Complete the Mission
If your health has taken a serious blow, you might want to just skedaddle on out of here until your Alert Meter goes back to normal. Otherwise, you should stick around and kill the remaining marines and destroy the helicopter for the EP. If you want even more EP, let the marines call in more strike teams! Keep consuming enemies to recharge your health, and use the missile launchers here to wreak havoc.
Behind the Glass
Now that you’ve earned some decent EP, take some time to buy some Upgrades for Alex, with the Diveroll Upgrade the only mandatory one for now. You should have enough EP for several upgrades; at the very least purchase the Airdash and Glide abilities. When you’re ready to move on, head to Dana’s Safehouse and walk into the glowing spot on the roof to enter.
Go to the Gentek Facility
After the scene, airdash and glide over to the building across from the skyscraper with the zigzag pattern on it in north Gramercy. Get on the roof of this building to scope out the Gentek Facility.
Enter the Gentek Facility Undetected
If you want, you can just barge right into the facility and take on the strike teams that await you; this is one way to earn a lot of EP, though you’ll have to bring your Alert Level back to normal to proceed. For the more discreet player, disguise yourself as a marine or Blackwatch marine. Head toward the Gentek Facility.
Consume the Gentek Facility Commander
Run in the direction of the Viral Detectors, which can see through disguises. You can see their detection range on your minimap. Usually within their field of detection you’ll find the Commander, who’s wearing a cap and sunglasses. Grab him and consume him; doing so gives you a Web of Intrigue memory [1st Lt. Todd Chupka]. Now go hide somewhere until your Alert Meter returns to normal. Once it does, disguise yourself as the Commander and enter the base via the front entrance. In the ensuing cutscene you’ll receive another Web of Intrigue memory [Pfc. Jesse Arel].
Lead the Hunters Inside the Military Base
You’ve got a gang of quick, deadly Hunters chasing after your ass, and you don’t have any time to stop and think! Head to the roof of the Military Base as marked on your map and find the entrance at the skylight. Try to have full health before entering!
Stun and Consume a Hunter
Sprint past the marines firing missiles at you until a Hunter drops in on the scene, then immediately go after it. Use punch and kick combos on it, then diveroll out of the way of its swinging attacks. You can also throw crates or vehicles or even marines at the Hunter. If your health starts to drop, consume some marines to replenish it.
Once the Hunter has taken enough damage and is stunned, run up to it and consume it. This unlocks your Claw Power!
Defeat the Hunters
Quickly consume some marines to refill your health bar, then use your new claws to kill the two Hunters that have just arrived. Make sure to only fight one Hunter at a time; two at this point in the game can easily overpower you. Three more Hunters will eventually appear, and when they do, grab a fallen marine’s missile launcher and blast them from a safe distance. More will show up, so just try to stay alive and consume them to refill your health meter.
Destroy the Base by Rupturing the Fuel Tanks
Once you’ve taken care of the Hunters, find the two sets of fuel tanks as marked on your map and start launching missiles or throwing objects at the tanks. You can also jump kick them if you have no other means of damaging them. Once all the tanks are aflame, they’ll explode and you’ll complete the mission. This unlocks the Power Select Wheel.
First thing’s first: buy the Stealth Consume Upgrade for Alex. Now you can consume someone in a crowded area without attracting a lot of attention. Purchase more Upgrades with your remaining EP, then head to Dana’s Safehouse to start the mission.
Go to Karen Parker’s Apartment
Make your way toward Karen Parker’s apartment, which is marked on your map. Find the destination point and step into it to enter the apartment. Watch the scene.
Consume a Soldier to Locate a Military Base
Back on the street, find a soldier with a helix icon over his head, then sprint to him, grab him, and consume him. You’ll earn a Web of Intrigue memory: [Capt. Charles Conley]. Watch out for Hunters out here!
Go to the Military Base
You can now see the location of a military base to the northwest. Disguise yourself as the soldier and head there, then enter.
Consume the Commander to Access the Base/Enter the Base in Commander Disguise
Follow the outer walls of the base to the parked trucks and wait there for the Commander to pass by. When he does, sneak up behind him and use your new Stealth Consume ability to consume him. Disguise yourself as the Commander now and go to glowing orange destination point. Step into it to enter via the security entrance. Note that you can only enter if the base is not on Alert status.
Consume an APC Driver/Exit the Base
Rather than sprinting blindly to the driver and consuming him, walk to the other end of the room and follow the driver. When he reaches the corner between the gas tanks and the steel bay, stealth consume him. This earns you a Web of Intrigue memory: [GySgt. Mark Mead]. Disguise yourself as the driver and exit the base interior.
Get into an ACP
As the driver, approach the APC with the blue arrow pointing at it and press the Grab button to get on top of the turret hatch. Open it and enter the APC.
Go to the Infected Area to Test the Weapons/Use the APC to Kill the Infected
Follow the onscreen instructions to drive the APC west out of the base, but don’t go nuts and drive over the soldiers on your way. You want to keep a low profile! Unless of course you want to fight the military and the Infected. For this reason, drive around any military barricades en route to your destination. When you reach the area with the crowd of Infected, use your Main Gun to kill them all.
Return to Karen Parker’s Apartment/Destroy the Hive Before Picking Up Parker
Leave the area south via the alleyway and drive toward Parker’s apartment. Before you reach it, though, you’ll be tasked with destroying the virus hive infecting a nearby building. Park your APC with the building still visible in the distance, and fire your missiles at the hive. If you run out of missiles, use your Main Gun on the domes of the hive on the side of the building after plowing through a military concrete wall. Inevitably some Infected will attack your APC, so just drive back and forth over them as you continue to attack the hive until it explodes.
Pick up Karen Parker
Karen Parker’s apartment building is surrounded by more concrete military barriers. Oh what to do, what to do?? Guess we’ll just have to drive right through them! Approach the glowing destination point to pick up Parker.
Get Parker to Safety/Avoid the Military
You must get Karen Parker to safety now without leaving the APC or letting it take too much damage. Turn your APC north and drive quickly down one of the streets. If you run into a blockade, don’t stop! Just keep driving. When you get near the alleyway a block north of Central Park, find a nearby alley and hide there until your Alert Meter reaches the amber stage. At that point, drive over to the destination point to end the mission.
A New Order
Go to the Infected Water Tower and Collect the Genetic Material
Head to the marker and you’ll see your first water tower. You can identify infected water towers by the crows circling over it. They also show up on your mini-map.
Destroy the Infected Water Towers
These water towers are sort of like eggs for hunters. If you get too close to a tower it will quickly hatch, leaving you with a Hunter to deal with. You can destroy them by throwing objects (like air conditioners) at them from a distance, or by using your Hammerfist Power up close, if you’ve unlocked it. If you do opt for the Hammerfist method, you must be quick about it!
Once a water tower breaks apart, get over there as fast as you can and pick up the yellow orbs. Some of them may have fallen off the building and onto the street. You have only a few seconds to pick them up. Don’t try to kill all the Infected that attack you because they respawn endlessly. If you find yourself mired in wave after wave of Infected, either leave the area or restart the mission. Keep destroying towers until you haved filled the genetic material meter in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Go to the Hive and Collect More Genetic Material
Once you have all the orbs you need from the water towers, head over to the next marker. You’ll see the hive building, and it will shoot yellow orbs out into the street.
Collect Genetic Material Before the Hive is Destroyed
On that street you’ll see all sorts of infected (including hunters) fighting all sorts of military (including tanks). These APC tanks will continually fire on the hive, and if the hive reaches 0% integrity, you’ll have to restart from the last checkpoint. There’s an easy way to deal with the APCs, though: simply hijack them the moment you see one, then immediately exit. It will then sit there, empty and harmless. When all APCs are silenced, sprint around the street picking up the yellow orbs. When genetic material meter is full, the mission will end.
Locate the Blackwatch Base Commander
Once you accept the mission you’ll find yourself overlooking the military base. Although the base itself isn’t very big, the whole area below you is filled with soldiers. Getting inside is a simple matter of putting on a military disguise (consume a soldier if you don’t have one) and walking right in. To avoid the Viral Detectors here, it’s best if you enter the base via the east entrance. Head over to the center of the base (the area under the crane) and you’ll see the commander.
Consume the Blackwatch Commander
You must now consume the commander. If you accidentally kill him, back off a bit and another one will appear. [2nd Lt. Joel Burner] will be added to the Web of Intrigue.
Destroy the Nearby Patrol
You’ll see the location of the patrol on your map. The easiest way to do this is to jump down from a rooftop into the center of the patrol. Hijack one of the tanks, then use that to take out the rest of the patrol. The patrol has two unmanned aerial vehicles (they look like UFOs) that must be destroyed as well.
Destroy All the Patrols Before They Reach Dana’s Safehouse
There are several more patrols you must destroy now. For each patrol, simply hijack an APC and use it to fire missiles at other APCs and UAVs. After the second patrol you may encounter a military officer you can consume to get the Web of Intrigue [1st Lt Nathan Talbot]. You’ll know you’re heading for the last patrol in this group when a timer appears onscreen; quickly get to the patrol before the timer runs out, or you’ll have to restart from the last checkpoint.
Eventually, three more patrols will appear simultaneously on your map, so take them out as you did all the previous patrols. Near the westernmost patrol you may encounter another Web of Intrigue soldier to consume, [Lt John Chen].
The mission ends once you have destroyed all the patrols.
In the Web
Before you can start this mission you must buy the Sprint Speed 1 upgrade.
Destroy the Viral Detector
On a nearby rooftop (look for the marker) is a viral detector. This is a silver and green device, and it is surrounded by soldiers and a helicopter. Head over there, take down the helicopter with Flying Kicks, ignore the soldiers, and destroy the machine. You can destroy it with regular punches and kicks, although having the Musclemass power equipped speeds up the process.
Destroy Another Viral Detector
You’ll see another marker indicating another detector, to the southwest a few buildings away. By this time you’ll have a strike team bearing down on you. They’ll have attack helicopters so don’t waste any time. Take out this detector the same way you destroyed the last one.
Destroy the Remaining Viral Detectors in Each Marked City Block
You’ll now have to search for eight more detectors to destroy. Each block that might have a detector shows up as green on your map. Head to each of these buildings. Once you get to a building you’ll either see a detector, which you should destroy, or the block will switch from green to black, meaning there is no detector there. Hunters will also begin chasing you now, and with the Strike Teams undoubtedly trailing your every move, you’ll need to be doubly evasive of these threats to survive.
Once you destroy the last detector, you’ll see a cutscene. The mission isn’t over however. After this scene you must still evade or destroy any remaining enemies on alert. Once you get away you’ll get a mission complete screen.
The Altered World
Before starting this mission you must buy the Critical Mass Ability (15,000 EP).
Go to the Hive to Lure McMullen Out
Head over to the marker. Stay on the rooftops because there’s a battle on the streets that you want to avoid.
Find and Consume a Commander Among the Survivors
Before you head down into the fray, jump over to the next, lower, building. From this roof you may be able to spot your target before you go down to the street. When the you do find the commander (with the marker over his head) jump down and consume him. You can make this a little bit easier by disguising yourself in military garb as you approach the commander; the Hunters and Infected will still attack you, but at least the military troopers won’t. Try not to get bogged down in the battle between the infected and the military. You’ll get the Web of Intrigue memory: [Capt. Derrik Kaufman].
Go to the Next Hive Research Site and Check Its Activity Levels
As soon as you’ve consumed the commander, get out of the area. Disguise yourself as the commander and make your way to the southeast to the next hive. Get to the next check point on the roof of the building near the hive and you’ll get your next objective.
Sabotage the Viral Detectors
Do not allow the viral detectors to be destroyed or McMullen will avoid the area. There are four detectors. You can either fight your way to them or you can put on the commander’s disguise and walk up to them. The disguise is easier, but fighting is more fun. If you choose to fight, avoid heavy weapons like tanks or rockets which can accidentally destroy the detectors.
When you do get to a detector you’ll have to perform a series of button presses (a “quick-time event”). Hit the buttons corresponding to those on your controller as quickly as you can to sabotage the detector, then move on to the next. If you screw up, an alarm will sound, and the military will be aware of your presence.
Go to the Landing Zone to Signal McMullen
After you’ve sabotaged the fourth detector, you’ll have to clear the alert by destroying all the military nearby (hard) or finding an out of the way place and changing into a disguise (easy). Once the alert is clear you can head to the marker.
Acquire an Uncompromised Disguise and Escape Alert
After you’ve seen the short cutscene, you’ll come under heavy fire. The best thing to do is immediately sprint out of the area and hide. As soon as your Alert Level drops you’ll complete the mission.
Errand Boy
This mission starts just north of central park. Before you begin this mission you’ll have to buy Jump Upgrade 1 for 10,000 EP. This mission is really just to get to the start location for the next mission (“The Specialist”), a boss fight.
Enter the Hive
The hive in question is to your southeast. Head over there and stand on the roof. You’ll then be transported to the inside of the hive.
Collect the Genetic Material
Before you do anything, make sure you have the Musclemass Power selected in your Power Wheel. Now start collecting the yellow orbs scattered around the area. After a few moments, you’ll get an unexpected visitor.
The Specialist
Defeat the Specialist
Specialist Cross has several attacks. He has a laser-guided rocket he shoots at long range. You can tell when he’s about to fire because he drops to one knee and uses a visible laser to aim at you. At close range he uses an electrified baton, which you can see clearly whenever he pulls it out. Not only does it do damage, it also has a knockback effect. Don’t get anywhere near him when he has it out.
If you’ve been hording EP, now is a good time to invest in a few combat powers. Area effect powers are especially useful.
In the first phase of this fight you’ll have to fight just Specialist Cross. Use ranged attacks against him when he pulls out his baton (whipfist works well, as does using the Musclemass ability while throwing debris at him) and when he shoots at you, use your defensive shield, or try to close in and use melee attacks against him. Flying Kicks also work well.
When you get Cross down to around three-quarters of his health bar, you’ll start the second phase of the fight. You’ll now have to deal with a huge group of Infected. Use area effect attacks like the Whipfist Streetsweeper attack to take them out, and be sure to collect the health orbs they drop.
The Infected respawn endlessly, so after you’ve taken out the first large group, focus your attacks on Cross. You can either go all-out and attack him all the time, or you can wait until he is reloading (he says “Reloading!” whenever he starts reloading).
At around one-third health Cross will start the third phase of the fight. This phase replaces the Infected with military troops. They are mostly armed with grenade launchers, so use area effect attacks again like Whipfist Streetsweeper to take them out, then focus your firepower on Cross. Once you get Cross down to about one-tenth of his health you will win the fight.
Escape the Alert
After the cutscene you’ll be stripped of most of your powers. You can still sprint and disguise yourself however. As soon as you regain control, sprint out of the area and hide until the Alert Level drops.
Go to Dana’s Safehouse
Dana’s house is near Times Square. It’s better to avoid any enemies you encounter rather than fight them because you don’t have your normal powers.
Go to Dr. Ragland’s Morgue
The morgue is located on the Upper East Side. Before you can enter the morgue you must buy the Knuckle Shockwave upgrade for 24,000 EP.
Locate Blackwatch Specter Forces
Your new mission is to locate “Patient Zero,” the first person to get the infection. Go to the marker to the south.
Hijack an APC to Consume a Commander
Each APC with a commander is in a group of APCs. If you try to run up and hijack one of the APCs the other vehicles will shoot you and knock you off the APC. The best way to grab a vehicle is to first destroy its nearby flying UAV, go hide somewhere until your Alert Level has dropped, then walk up to an APC in military disguise. Once you hijack an APC you’ll get the [1st Lt Steven Yarish] Web of Intrigue memory.
As soon as that’s over you’ll want to drive the APC out of the area because you’ll come under heavy fire. Don’t worry if you lose the APC, though; you can just run to your next destination.
Locate Captain Lim
Lim is south of your position, attacking a hive. If your APC is still in one piece, drive it over there. Otherwise, just glide there.
Destroy the Blackwatch Specter Vehicles
Once you get to the hive, you’ll need to destroy the APC tanks. Perhaps the best way to destroy them is to hijack one. Hijacking one counts as destroying it, and you can use it to destroy the other tanks. Once you’ve destroyed all the tanks, another group of tanks will arrive. Destroy these as well.
Consume Captain Lim
The tank commander is inside an APC and the back of this column of tanks, marked by the helix icon. Hop out of your vehicle if you’re in one, but only if you’ve taken out all the tanks and helicopters in the area; you’ll find it very hard to hijack Lim’s tank if you’re under their constant fire. Jump up and glide to the marked APC. Hijack it and you’ll unlock the [Captain Eric Lim] Web of Intrigue. You will also end the mission and be transported to a safe location.
The Stolen Body
This mission can be completed without setting off a military alert.
Locate and Hijack a Tank
There is usually a tank near the intersection two blocks to the west of the morgue. Although you may be tempted to charge over there and jump down to the tank, you’ll set off an alert if you do. If you set off an alert the tank will most likely be destroyed and you’ll have to start over. The best thing to do is to disguise yourself as a soldier and walk up to the tank. As long as you don’t have a weapon in your hand you can hijack the tank without alerting anyone.
Return the Tank to the Morgue
Drive back to the morgue, without destroying the tank or driving over any military personnel.
Transport Ragland to the Abandoned Military Base
The base is to the northwest, in Harlem. Try not to run over too many military personnel or vehicles, or you’ll trigger an alert. If your disguise meter starts filling, just stop for a moment and let it reset.
Defend Ragland from the Infected
You’ll notice on the top-right corner of your screen a meter labeled “Lab Wall.” You must stop the Infected from destroying the wall for four minutes. The Infected will attack in waves. Although you don’t have your powers, you can still punch and kick, and the Flying Kick works fantastically. You can also use the weapons scattered around. Be careful, because these weapons can damage the lab wall if you’re careless.
When Infected are attacking the wall the best move to use is a grab and throw. This will make sure you don’t destroy the wall with your own attacks. Just make sure that you don’t throw them into the wall.
Hunters will join the party after about a minute, so use constant Flying Kicks on them, or Groundshatters if you’re not near the wall. Be sure to consume them when the time comes to receive the health boost.
After the four minuets are up you’ll have to destroy any remaining Infected. Now you can use the rocket launchers and other weapons recklessly.
Return Ragland to the Morgue
You’ll find yourself back in the tank. Head back to the morgue, but watch out for intersections. At most intersections you’ll see a giant tendril called a Hydra emerge from the ground. Avoid these unless you wish to fight them, in which case you should shoot at them with your tank’s cannon from the safety of a building corner. Either way, make your way back to the morgue to end the mission.
Biological Imperative
This mission can be completed without setting off a military alert.
Begin this mission by stepping into the glowing point at the morgue.
Consume the Helicopter Pilot/Steal the Transport Helicopter
You’ll start off overlooking a base, and you’ll see a helicopter pilot. Put on a military soldier’s disguise and perform a steath consume on the marine with the helix icon over his head. You’ll get the [Captain Marcus Graves] Web of Intrigue memory, and the Skyjack ability. Now hop in the helicopter waiting for you.
Test Flight/Weapon Systems
You’ll get a quick tutorial on how to fly. Follow the commands to go up, down, and rotate the helicopter. At the marker are three viral detectors. Use the helicopter’s weapons to lock onto them and destroy them.
Go South Towards the Infected Zones.
Fly to the marker to the south.
Find an Infected Water Tower
There is a meter in the upper-right corner of the screen that gets higher as you get closer to an infected water tower. Unfortunately, which water tower you need to find is random, so just keep flying around, heading forward whenever your meter starts filling up until you find the right water tower. Once you get close enough you can scan the towers by targeting them, then pressing the action button (the correct button displays on your screen). Don’t shoot the tower! Once you’ve scanned the correct tower a hunter will appear. Now hop out of the helicopter.
Stun the Hunter/Consume the Hunter
You’ll have to fight the hunter until the red DNA symbol appears over its head. Make sure you don’t kill it! Once it’s stunned, grab it and you’ll automatically inject it. Next, you’ll have to chase down the hunter and defeat it again. This time, consume it. You’ll get a whole slew of powers. You’ll get the Blade power, and Armor power. You’ll also get your old powers back.
Before you start this mission you must buy the Tendril Barrage Devastator for 54,000 EP. Head to Dana’s safehouse to start the mission.
Pursue the Leader Hunter
You’ll see a Distance meter on the top-right corner of your screen. The farther away the Leader Hunter gets, the lower the bar gets. If it drops to zero you will fail the mission. As soon as the chase begins, target and lock-on to the Hunter so you always know where it is. Wall jump, air dash, and glide to keep up with the beast as it heads on an erratic path to the northwest corner of Central Park. This chase goes on for quite a while, so if you need a break you can always pause the game.
Defeat the Leader Hunter’s Reinforcements
There are several Hunters on the street, and you have to kill them all before you can require the Leader Hunter’s position. Their locations are on your mini-map.
The worst threat here, though, is definitely the military. Skyjack a gunship from the air and use it to gun down both the military and the Hunters from the relative safety of the air! The easiest way to Skyjack a gunship is to perform a Flying Kick toward one, then pressing the Grab button at the last second before you hit the helicopter.
Pursue the Leader Hunter
Follow the Leader Hunter again, and if you switched into your armor, be sure to switch out of it so you can move faster. The Leader Hunter will stop at a building under construction. Here you’ll see a cutscene and will complete the mission.
First and Last Things
This mission can be completed without setting off a military alert.
This mission starts at Dr. Ragland’s Morgue.
Go to the Infected Zone
Head for the marker, southwest of the morgue. As you get close to the marker you’ll have to deal with three hunters.
Consume the Leader Hunter
Jump down into the battle raging on the street and fight the Leader Hunter until the symbol over him turns red. Rather than attacking him on foot, which is extremely dangerous, hijack a tank and fire on the Leader Hunter with the main cannon. When you see the red helix symbol, you can then consume him. You’ll then discover that you can’t yet consume Leader Hunters. The Leader Hunter will run away, so follow him. He goes back to his hive, so go to the marker on the roof the hive.
Kill the Hunters Guarding the Leader
There are several hunters on the roof you’ll have to kill. There also may be some military that shoot at you, but you don’t have time to bother with them right now. The best way to handle this situation is to Skyjack a gunship and use that on the Hunters. Kill all the hunters and the Leader Hunter will attack you.
Lure the Leader Hunter to the Abandoned Military Base
The base is on the north side of the city. You have to not only convince the Leader Hunter to follow you there, but you have to protect it from the military. This is not an easy task, so don’t get disheartened if you have to restart a couple of times.
You’ll see an interest level meter on the top right corner of the screen. If this bar reaches zero, the Leader Hunter will wander off and stop following you. You can replenish this bar by attacking him.
As soon as this objective starts, jump down to the Leader Hunter and hit him once. That’s all it takes to refill the meter. As soon as you hit him, sprint up to the top of a nearby building. If you stay on the street you’ll take far too much damage from the military. When the Leader Hunter catches up to you, start leading him north.
The process is actually simple. Hit the Leader Hunter once. You’re not fighting him, just getting his attention. Then sprint and glide a couple of buildings away, heading toward the base. Don’t go more than a block or two, or he might lose interest before he catches up to you. Stop on a rooftop that doesn’t have too much cover. This will make it easier to hit him and get away. Wait for him to come to you, hit him, then again sprint to the north. Remember to hit him just once, then get away. You don’t want to fight him. If you have the Whipfist power, try using here. The extended range makes hitting him and getting away easier.
Defeat the Leader to Subdue It
Once you get the Leader near the marker, you must fight him. This fight isn’t that hard because he’s alone and you won’t be taking damage from anyone else. Although it looks like it’s a boss fight, it’s not. The only hard part about the fight is that he has a charge attack that includes a knockback. You have to defend or dodge this attack because he can do it again before you get up. Once he hits you with this attack it’s possible for him to his you several times before you can do anything about it.
By far the easiest way of defeating the Leader Hunter is to pick up a military truck, target the Leader Hunter, and hurl it at him. Do this a couple times and he’ll be begging for mercy.
Once you’ve defeated the Leader Hunter you’ll complete the mission.
The First Monster
This mission can be completed without setting off a military alert.
Start this mission by making sure you have a military disguise, then heading to the morgue.
Enter the Abandoned Military Base
After the scene with Dr. Ragland, you’ll appear on a building roof above the abandoned military base. The entrance is marked by a glowing spot, as you can see on your map, so step into it to enter.
Consume the Leader Hunter
Find a vehicle here, grab it, then hurl it at the wounded Leader Hunter. This should stun the beast. Quickly change into your military disguise, then sprint to the stunned Leader Hunter, grab it, and consume it. You’ll then receive a Web of Intrigue memory: [Leader Hunter].
This unlocks the new Infected Vision ability, which allows you to see Infected carriers.
Four military soldiers will enter the building now, but if you’re disguised as one of them your Alert Level will stay low.
Go to the Base to Find Infected Carriers
Leave the base now and glide to the military base that overlooks Central Park. You must fill the Hive Mind meter in the upper-right corner of the screen, and to do this you must consume four Infected soldiers.
Luckily, there are four Infected soldiers who always stand in the same places at this base. There are two on either side of the tank exit on the north side of the base and two on either side of the tank exit on the south side of the base. Remember to Stealth Consume them so that your Alert Level stays low, or you’ll need to consume more Infected soldiers. Also, make sure you stay out of range of the Viral Detectors here, or you’ll blow your cover!
Once the Hive Mind meter is fill, you’ll unlock the full potential of the Infected Vision ability.
Go to the Mutated Hunter’s Location
Glide west across Central Park until you reach the Mutated Hunter; he’s marked on your map, of course. You’ll find him on the top of the tenement block. Make sure you’re at Critical Mass before you go there!
Consume the Mutated Hunter to Locate Dana
When you reach the top of the tenement block, the Mutated Hunter will attack. Have your Musclemass power equipped, then use Devastator Attacks and Blade Combos on the beast, and throw air conditioning units at him from afar. Ignore any Hunters that might show up and just focus on taking down the Mutated Hunter. If you need to replenish your health, leave the area and consume pedestrians until you’re back in tip-top shape, then return to finish the fight.
When you finally manage to stun the Mutated Hunter, grab him and consume him to earn the Web of Intrigue memory [Leader Hunter] and end the mission.
Making the Future
To start this mission, head to the military base overlook point as marked on your map, but only do so after you have acquired a military disguise.
Protect the Thermobaric Tank
You’re going to want to get into either a tank (which you can find east of the Thermobaric Tank) or a Gunship on the roof you start this mission on. Both are viable options, but the Gunship is probably the more effective of the two vehicles.
Escort the Tank to the First Armored Hive
Your job now is to protect the Thermobaric Tank, and that means shooting any Infected or Hunters that get near it. Use machine gun fire to keep them at bay, and even fire off-screen with the gunship to hit enemies you can’t see yet. When you’ve dealt with the mass of Infected around the Thermo Tank, it will blast through the first Armored Hive and move on.
Escort the Tank to the Second Armored Hive
The Thermo Tank will head north three blocks, then go west one block, then go north and west again. Keep pumping lead into the hordes of Infected, but make sure you don’t accidentally hit a military vehicle, or your Alert Level will rise, and you just don’t want that.
Once the tank gets close to the second Armored Hive, face south so that both the Hive and the Thermo Tank can be seen. Keep gunning down any Infected from this position as they approach the Thermobaric Tank. Remember, there are Hunters to deal with too, so keep your eyes peeled for any vehicles flying toward you!
Keep the tank protected until it destroys the second Hive.
Escort the Tank to the Third Armored Hive
Follow the tank as it heads south, west, then south and keep shooting any enemies that get near it. Eventually the tank will reach the third Hive area and stop a block north of it.
Clear the Hive Area of the Marked Infected Forces
Stop your Gunship between the Hive and the Thermobaric Tank and start shooting the enemies coming out of the Hive with your machine guns (or missiles at a safe distance). In this way you’ll kill off all the marked enemies before they can get anywhere near your tank. When they’ve all been killed, the Thermo Tank will approach the Hive and get crushed by a Hydra’s tendril!
Enter the Tank/Destroy the Armored Hive
Get out of your Gunship (or tank) and sprint over to the Thermobaric Tank. Get in, aim your cannon at the Armored Hive, and blast it!
Breach the Core Hive with the Thermobaric Tank
Drive the Thermo Tank east now. Your Alert Level is probably pretty high right now, so destroy any Gunships pursuing you. Turn left (north) at the T-intersection, then turn right (east) into the park on the north side of the Core Hive. Use the Tank’s main cannon to destroy the Core Hive and end the mission.
* NOTE: Before you destroy the Core Hive, you should prepare for the next mission, a boss battle, by upgrading your Grab, Throw, Diveroll, Airdash, Musclemass, Whipfist, and Devastator moves to the maximum current level. Also, make sure you’ve got full health and have reached Critical Mass (consume any pedestrians nearby to achieve this).
Children of Blacklight
Defeat the Supreme Hunter
The Supreme Hunter has four main attacks. The first is a series of quick claw swipes that will seriously cut into your health if you’re standing too close to the Hunter when he starts the attack. The second, which you should also beware of at close range, is an overhead slam with his right arm; remember to roll out of the way if you see this coming.
At long range, you’ll need to watch out for the Supreme Hunter throwing large chunks of debris at you. If you see something flying toward you, diveroll to safety!
His final attack is a dangerous Groundspike Devastator, which, like your own version of this attack, sends tendrils shooting up through the ground wherever you’re standing. Jump and airdash away when you see the Supreme Hunter using this attack.
When the battle begins, you’re going to want to hit the Supreme Hunter with a series of quick combo strikes until it becomes stunned. At that point, equip your Musclemass power and go to town on the beast until it regains movement. If you’re having trouble staying alive, you can also launch Whipfist Street Sweepers or toss vehicles at it from a distance.
After the Supreme Hunter has lost about a quarter of its health, it will be joined by Hunters and Hydras. Make sure your Shield power is equipped, and be constantly on the move, strafing around the Supreme Hunter. Kill then Hunters whenever you can, but leave the Hydras alone for now.
When you’ve gotten the Supreme Hunter’s health to the halfway mark, marines will show up with APCs. Hijack an APC and stay inside it while your health regenerates and you unload the vehicle’s cannons on the Hydras, then the Supreme Hunter. If you need health, consume the troopers, Infected, Hunters, or Hydras in the vicinity.
Before starting this mission, make sure your Vehicle -> Helicopter Upgrade is maxed out, and that you’ve purchased the Grapple -> Powerbomb or Musclemass Boost as well. To start the mission, head to the phone booth on the Lower East Side.
Observe the Rooftop Where the Helicopter is Parked
To the west of the phone booth is a helicopter parked on the roof of a skyscraper. Glide to the building southeast of the helicopter’s building and stand in the glowing spot to observe the chopper.
Consume a Rooftop Blackwatch Sentry
Get a military disguise if you don’t already have one and jump to the building with the helicopter, grabbing the wall and flipping onto the roof unseen. Find a sentry at the edge of the roof, wait behind an air conditioning unit, and Stealth Consume him. This unlocks the Web of Intrigue memory: [Pfc Timothy Lamons].
Steal the Helicopter
This is a tough one (/sarcasm). Disguised a sentry, walk over to the helicopter, drop your weapon, grab the chopper, and hop in.
Evacuate the Military Units at the Assigned Waypoint
Fly north to the waypoint and land on the roof. Remember, you’re trying to blend in with the Blackwatch here, so don’t open fire! Allow the Blackwatch troopers to board.
Destroy the Hive
Head south from here to the Hive in Soho. Stay high and launch some missiles at the Hive until it goes up in flame.
Destroy All Marked Infected Targets
These Infected targets are at street level, so fly lower and start launching rockets at them as you strafe back and forth. Watch out for any vehicles the Infected might toss your way! After you’ve killed all the targets, land on the glowing spot by the Hive.
Deploy the Military Units at the Designated Waypoint/Destroy the Hydras/Evacuate the Military Units at the Assigned Waypoint
Head north to the next waypoint and land at the glowing spot. A Hydra will appear; greet it with a flurry of rockets after lifting off into the air again. You’ll have to deal with two more Hydras now, so stay low and fire rocket after rocket into them, one at a time. After the third Hydra’s gone, land and pick up your military units.
Evacuate the Military Units
Fly to the west to the next two waypoints to pick up some units. Hunters and Hydras will attack, so get back in the air and circle the area, blasting the enemies while dodging the vehicles they throw at you. When they’re all dealt with, land on the roof of the warehouse on the pier to pick up the rest of the units.
Infiltrate the Military Base without Compromising Your Disguise/Land the Helicopter
Turn southeast now and fly the helicopter to the destination point in Battery Park. You’ll want to be at full health and Critical Mass when you do.
Eliminate All Blackwatch Forces
When this objective begins, you’re practically surrounded by Blackwatch soldiers. Quickly look to the left and consume the soldier holding the grenade launcher, then pick the weapon up. Begin by blasting the Bloodtox Blower on the ramp until it goes up in flame. Now turn your grenade launcher on the soldiers. Gun them all down except for one so you can get a new full-ammo launcher ready, then kill the last soldier.
This triggers the arrival of a new enemy: the supersoldier, which has the ability to detect you even if you’re wearing a disguise. Despite your instinct, turn south and blast the two groups of five soldiers coming through the hatch doors with a grenade to the center of each group, then turn back to the supersoldier and attack him. Always keep a good distance from him and keep up the assault until he drops. Afterward, find a fresh grenade launcher.
Two more groups of soldiers will attack now, as will four supersoldiers. As before, blast the groups of soldiers first, collect the health orbs they drop, then go after the supersoldiers. If you can, use a Devastator move on them; otherwise the grenade launcher will do. Don’t bother with missiles, as you’ll probably get hit in the splash damage!
Escape the Military Base
When all the soldiers and supersoldiers are dead, exit to the forecourt to find a ridiculously large number of military enemies waiting to kill you. If you’re feeling gutsy, perform a Devastator and try to kill everything. A safer approach would be to consume a marine and hide behind the Ferry building until your Alert Meter drops. At that point, you can stroll right out of the base to end the mission.
A Dream of Armageddon
Go to the Contact’s Phone Booth
Answer the phone in the Lower East Side, and make sure you have a military disguise.
Go to the Bloodtox Staging Area
Get on the roof of a skyscraper and look down at the scene below. You must destroy nine Bloodtox blowers in this area.
Destroy All Bloodtox Blowers
First of all, you’re going to want to get yourself a gunship. The tactic you’ll want to be employing here consists of swooping in near a blower, getting out, Stealth Consuming all the soldiers in the area, destroying the blower, then getting back in the Gunship and flying off to safety.
If you look at your map, you’ll see that the nine blowers are arranged in a misshapen sort of circle. Tackle the blowers going counterclockwise, starting with the southeast blower on the low roof. Next up is the blower on the ground to the northwest; watch out for tanks near this one.
The third blower is also on the ground; missiles will be fired at you as you approach it. The fourth blower is northeast of the third, on the ground at an intersection. Again, missiles will be fired at you as you make your approach.
The fifth blower is on the ground to the southwest. This one has missiles, tanks, and supersoldiers guarding it, so you’ll need to be very careful about not letting your Gunship get blown from the sky. Missiles, tanks, and supersoldiers also patrol the sixth blower to the west.
The seventh blower is on top of a skyscraper. For this one, stay in your Gunship and use its weaponry to destroy the blower. The eighth blower is on the ground to the southeast, and has missiles, tanks, and supersoldiers around it. The final blower located to the southwest is on the ground, and has the same reinforcements as the previous blower.
Evade or Defeat Nearby Enemies to Complete the Mission
Now that the nine blowers are no more, you must either get out of the area. Alternatively, there are lots of EP to be had if you stick around the ninth blower and take out all military foes here. Just be careful not to get killed now! When you’re ready to end the mission, sprint out of the area.
The World Set Free
Go to the Contact’s Phone Booth
Although the majority of this mission takes place on the north half of Manhattan, the phone booth to get it all started is in near the southeast corner, in the Lower East Side, near the one that started the previous mission. Head there to learn that you must make sure that a Bloodtox Pumper reaches Times Square unharmed.
Consume the Bloodtox Facility Commander
You’ll be transported to the Bloodtox Facility in West Harlem now. Enter the facility after disguising yourself as a marine or trooper, and avoid the supersoldier to the left of where you begin, as he’s a Virus Detector. Inside the facility, Stealth Consume the Commander from behind.
Go to the West Guard Post and Start the Convoy
Before getting on with the actual mission, take some time as the Commander to explore the Bloodtox Facility and get a good feel for it; you’ll be back here in another mission soon.
Head to the western entrance and stand on the glowing spot there. This gets the convoy moving.
Escort the Bloodtox Pumper to Times Square
Make your way over to the convoy now and get into either the gunship or the tank, whichever you’re more comfortable with. Remember, if your vehicle takes too much damage, you can always hijack another.
Three blocks ahead, a Hydra will burst from the ground and attack the convoy. The Hydra will try to throw vehicles at the Bloodtox pumper, so be sure to shoot the vehicles out of the air before they can connect. Open up on the Hydra with all your firepower until it’s good and dead.
Get in front of the convoy now and lead it south, as another Hydra will emerge from the west, by the park. Blast it into the next world, then continue south. When you see the block covered in debris, get your weapon ready, as two Hydras will emerge from it. Kill them, then go east toward Central Park. Be ready for another Hydra as you cross the street into the park.
Turn south, and at the south end of the park two more Hydras will appear. Move off to the side so that the convoy can help you take them down.
The convoy now moves south into Times Square. Stick close to the convoy as another Hydra appears two blocks south of the park. When you finally reach Times Square, four Hydras will attack. Unleash your rockets and heaviest firepower on the Hydras until all four are dead, ending the mission.
Activate the Bloodtox Pump
Before you activate the pump, make sure you’re at full health and at Critical Mass. There are plenty of Infected in the area for you to consume to do this. You should also make sure to buy the latest upgrades for your Devastator attacks. When you’re ready, step into the glowing area and you’ll automatically take on the Commander disguise.
Defend the Northern Perimeter
You’ll be dealing with several waves of enemies while defending the pumper, and the first comes from the north. Head north to the military barricade and stand in front of the wall, and when the hunters arrive, perform a Tendril Barrage Devastator to take them all out.
Defend the Southern Perimeter
The next group of enemies will come from the south, so sprint to the military barricade there. Stand in front of the wall as before and use your Tendril Barrage Devastator to kill all the hunters as they arrive.
Defend the Eastern Perimeter
Two waves of enemies will come from the east now. Stand in the narrow side street, well away from the pumper, and use the Tendril Barrage Devastator to kill the six hunters without striking the pumper! When they’re dead, a Leader Hunter will arrive. Hit it with a chain of Blade Air Slices.
Defend the Western Perimeter
Now head west of the pumper to take out the six hunters that have just arrived. You can use your Devastator attack as you have before, or, if the hunters are too close to the pumper, switch to some power attacks. Once these six are dead, military soldiers will arrive. The worst of these are two supersoldiers. Have your shield up and either ignore them or kill them very quickly, because you’re about to have more Infected to deal with…
Destroy All the Remaining Infected
Two Leader Hunters and two Hydras are attacking from the east and west. Make the Leader Hunters your priority and kill them first. The Tendril Barrage Devastator works as well as ever. When they’re dead, quickly kill the Hydras with attacks like the Flurry of Blades.
Finally, two Hydras will attack from the north and south. They’ll be chucking pieces of the road at you and the pumper, so pick one and hit it with a Critical Pain Devastator to kill it quickly, then do the same with the other. You can also use Air Slices, as they take off a good chunk of health with each strike. Once these two Hydras are dead, the mission is won!
On Instinct
Defeat Elizabeth Greene
This boss has four main attacks that it will use against you.
The one she’ll use most often is her Infection Wave, in which she emits a burst of energy that can knock you down and cut into your health. To avoid it, as soon as you see the air go orange, immediately airdash away from Elizabeth, as the wave has a range of about half a city block. You can also jump and airdash onto the top of a building to avoid the attack.
She also has two projectile attacks. The first is a group of glowing green orbs she’ll send out after you. Use your shield to absorb them, or diveroll and run away from them. The second projectile attack comes when she spits out several huge boulders at you. Jump or diveroll out of the way of these.
Her final attack comes when she uses her two tendrils to smash the ground where you stand or bite you if you’re close enough. Avoid them by diverolling or jumping and airdashing away from them.
When you start the battle, get on top of a building to find safe cover from Elizabeth’s attacks. On the lower rooftops you’ll find several Hunters; kill them to reach Critical Mass, which will help you in fighting Elizabeth.
Now, on to killing Elizabeth. First thing’s first: you must eliminate her two outer tendrils and her central stem. For this, jump toward her and use a powered-up Air Groundspike Devastator attack on the stem and tendrils. You can also use Cannonballs for this; make sure the Musclemass power is selected.
Another tricky method of inflicting damage on Elizabeth is to remain disguised as the Commander from the previous mission and call three airstrikes on the boss. Make sure to do this from cover with an Alert Level of amber or lower so you aren’t attacked while radioing in the strikes.
There’s also a tank you can commandeer to attack Elizabeth, but be sure to put some distance between you and Elizabeth so she doesn’t destroy the vehicle before you have a chance to use it. You can hijack a gunship if you like, but it can only take one attack from Elizabeth before it goes down.
Once you’ve killed off her tendrils and main stem, her stamen will be exposed (how embarrassing!), so start in on that. Use the Blade Combo on it until you get Elizabeth’s health down to the halfway mark. At that point, she’ll burrow underground for a while, allowing you some time to grab the health orbs and get back to Critical Mass.
When Elizabeth reappears, two Hydras will appear next to her tendrils, and you’ll have to deal with those now. As with the tendrils, use Air Groundspike Devastators to hit them both simultaneously. When they go down, go back to pounding on the stamen until you’ve put an end to Elizabeth for good.
For defeating her you’ll gain her Web of Intrigue memory: [Elizabeth Greene].
Shock and Awe
Go to the Contact’s Phone Booth
The booth is marked on your map; head there to learn your next objective, which is to destroy the Bloodtox Facility.
Go to the Bloodtox Facility
Make sure you’ve got a military disguise, then head to the Bloodtox Facility overlook point, which you’ll find to the northeast. Get a good look at the facility, which of course is infected with health-sapping bloodtox and protected by tanks, gunships, UAVs, supersoldiers, and soldiers with missile-launchers. Yipes!
Destroy the Filter Units to Disable the Facility
Drop off the overlook to the north and be careful not to enter the patrol fields of the Virus Detectors (either UAVs or supersoliders). Get in the APC here and drive it through the entrance of the facility. Keep driving and looking for the small concrete buildings; these are the filters. You’ll find one to the left of the two parked trucks near the east entrance, one to the right of the two parked trucks by the east entrance, one on the other side of the building the first filter is next to, two in the center of the facility on either side of the tarmac path, and three in the tarmac courtyard near the western entrance.
Once you’ve scouted the locations for the eight filters, return to the first part of the facility and start launching missiles at them from the APC. Each filter will take three missiles. Ignore the enemies shooting at you and keep firing missiles at the filters until your APC is inevitably destroyed. At that point, get out of the facility. You are in no shape to take on the massive forces coming down on you now. Find a nice alley to hide in until your Alert Level goes down.
Okay, second run: skyjack a Gunship or enter the facility disguised a soldier to hijack a tank, and use that to finish off the filters. You can also do this with regular attacks, but you’ll want to go hide after destroying each filter in order to survive.
You can now purchase the final Upgrades, if you have the EP. To get this mission started, head to the lookout point at the end of the south Soho pier.
Go to the First Helicopter Staging Area/Destroy Taggart’s Transport Helicopters: Staging Area #1
Put on your military disguise (to keep a low Alert Level) and make your way northwest to the first staging area, where three helicopters are taking off. You must destroy them in the order they take off, and the best way to do this is with the Cannonball ability. Have your Musclemass power selected, and be sure to hold down the buttons you use for the Cannonball attack to increase its power. Alternatively, you could skyjack a helicopter or fire missiles at them, but the Cannonball method is by far the easiest.
The helicopters will take off in a random order, and you must destroy them before they reach the water on the east side of Manhattan.
Destroy Taggart’s Transport Helicopters: Staging Area #2
The next staging area, northeast of the first one, has five helicopters to destroy. As before, use the Cannonball attack to destroy them. After the first three are destroyed, the last two will take off at the same time. Be extra quick about dispatching these before either can escape!
Destroy Taggart’s Transport Helicopters: Staging Area #3
Five more choppers to destroy. The first two will take off at the same time, as will the final three. Be quick to Cannonball them all to complete the mission.
Two Tickets
Begin this mission by heading to the lookout point on a skyscraper in Soho. You’ll want to make sure you have a military disguise at this point, as well as be at Critical Mass. Trust us, it will make the final missions much easier.
Go to Taggart’s Base
Disguised as a soldier, go northeast to Taggart’s Base via the rooftops and survey the opposition waiting below. Formidable, no?
Destroy Taggart’s Base
You can do this one of two ways: stealthily, or gung-ho. You’ll get more EP if you do it stealthily, taking out all of the guns, tanks, UAVs, Viral Detectors, and soldiers one by one and hiding afterward, but you can by all means just rush the base, ignore the enemies, and destroy it. We’ll cover the more tactical approach below.
As a soldier, you’ll want to eliminate the UAVs first. From your perch on the rooftop, target one of the UAVs and hit it with a Cannonball. Airdash away from the UAV and find a place to hide to lower your Alert Level. Take out the second UAV the same way. Do so usually lures the supersoldiers your way, so take them out with long-range weapons.
Next up, the five Viral Detectors. As Alex, hit all the detectors with an Air Slice to eliminate them at once. You’ll want to take out the Sentry Guns next. You’ll find two on the roof of the base and four on the ground, on turrets. Cannonball a gun, hide until your Alert Level has lowered, then destroy another in the same way until all are destroyed.
Take on the soldiers with missile launchers after that. They’ll be found on the rooftops. Wear your soldier disguise and take them out with Stealth Consume.
Finally, there are the tanks, two of them. Make sure your Alert Level is at amber or lower and that you’re wearing your military disguise, then hijack a tank. Jump back out of the tank and hijack the other. Tanks dealt with!
Now to destroy the base. You can use missiles to accomplish this, or if you prefer, a tank. You can also use the Groundspike Devastator if you have Critical Mass; perform it from the roof of the base.
Pursue Taggart/Destroy Taggart’s Reinforcements
Taggart is trying to escape in his tank, and you must keep up with him (as indicated by the distance meter in the upper-right corner of the screen), or fail the mission. It will roll through three reinforcement positions, all of which you must destroy. The best way to do this is by jumping across the rooftops and airdashing between buildings to each reinforcement position.
Taggart will drive his tank south from the base and then turn east to the first point, which is guarded by four flagged tanks. Destroy these tanks and Taggart will move on to the next roadblock. He’ll go five blocks north, then turn east to the next roadblock. You may want to grab a tank en route and cut through the basketball court near the reinforcement point. Blast the reinforcement tanks from cover there until the checkpoint is triggered.
Follow Taggart south now, airdashing to keep up. He’ll make a right turn into the reinforcement point, which has five tanks you must destroy. A good tactic here is to hide for a bit, then hijack one of the tanks and use it to destroy the other four.
Consume Taggart
When all five tanks are dealt with, airdash and glide south toward the bridge before Taggart gets away. Land on his tank and open the hatch so you can consume the bastard. Doing so earns you his Web of Intrigue memory: [Colonel Ian Taggart].
Here it is, the final mission. After the cutscene you’ll obtain the Web of Intrigue memory: [General Peter Randall].
Defeat the Supreme Hunter
The Supreme Hunter is a bit like the less-developed one you faced in the Children of Blacklight mission, but much, much more dangerous. It has a bevy of deadly attacks at its disposal.
If you’re close to the beast he’ll likely swipe at you with this claws or bring his large right arm down in an overhead slam. He might also try to stomp on you. At a distance, the Supreme Hunter may jump high into the air and attempt to land on you, or he’ll charge at you shoulder-first. He also likes to throw objects at you, such as missiles, cases, or gunships.
Far and away his most dangerous attacks are his Groundspike Devastator, which, like your attack, sends spikes shooting up through the ground wherever you’re standing; and his Tendril Barrage Devastator, which mimics your Tendril Devastator attack by impaling anyone near the spikes he shoots from his body.
Surviving the Supreme Hunter’s offense is a matter of jumping, diverolling, or airdashing out of the way at the right moment, usually whenever you see an attack coming. You should have your Shield equipped at all times to lessen the blows.
While defending yourself, you must also launch your own offensive, and usually this involves sporadic combo attacks whenever you’re not dodging an attack. Use your Musclemass or Blade combos to inflict damage whenever you can until the Supreme Hunter is stunned, then keep attacking him. When he start to stand back up again, quickly jump onto his back and deliver more attacks.
The military is also around to fight the Supreme Hunter, but you shouldn’t count on them. Instead, consume soldiers for energy when needed, and when you have access to their missile launchers, use them from a safe distance when the Hunter performs his Tendril Barrage Devastator attack.
A key moment of vulnerability for the Supreme Hunter is right after his Tendril Barrage Devastator. When the tendrils are no longer extending, perform a Cannonball to get close to the Hunter, then get behind him and use Blade combos on his back. Hopefully this will be enough to stun him, leaving him wide open to more pain!
Whenever possible, have Musclemass selected and throw the various objects on the deck at the Supreme Hunter. The best items are the bombs, such as the two near where you start this fight. Two bombs is all it takes to stun the Supreme Hunter!
Keep attacking and whittling down the Supreme Hunter’s health until you’ve knocked off about three-quarters of it. At that point, a timer will appear onscreen, and you’ll have 1 minute and 45 seconds to finish him off! Use the same tactics as before, preferably using the toss-things-at-the-big-monster strategy, until the Supreme Hunter’s health reaches zero.
Fantastic work; you have just completed the final challenge of Prototype. Watch the game’s closing scenes and ending credits, and be sure to save afterward. You can now start a New Game+ that allows you to start the game over with all the power and upgrades you earned in your first playthrough!
