The game makes use of Epic Games’ Unreal Engine — an industry-leading AAA engine used to build such blockbuster games as Gears of War and Batman: Arkham Asylum. With the advent of iOS support, we can now use Unreal to bring high-quality 3D experiences to iPhone and iPad.

For an intuitive and smooth experience, players use virtual joysticks to control their character, negotiating terrain and taking control of an arsenal of weapons to fend off the zombie horde.

Desert Zombie: Last Stand will run on all iOS devices from iPhone 3GS and up. For the ultimate Desert Zombie experience, play on iPhone 4 and iPad 2!

It is set in a sequestered section of Gotham City that has become the home for the criminally insane. Players are introduced to a brand new story that bring together an ensemble cast of characters and villains from the Batman universe, as well as enhanced gameplay features that build upon the ultra-realistic Dark Knight experience that fans enjoyed with Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Graphics are an important part of a video game, because no matter how good the gameplay is and how deep the storyline is, it’s better if it looks good too. But many of the developers don’t start developing a game by creating their own engine because it takes more times and of course, why would you waste time with originality when someone else did a good graphic engine and they’re selling it? Throughout the gaming history, some graphic engines became quite famous, being used for a lot of first class games. But which ones are the most successful? Keep reading to find out.

5. Aurora

The Aurora Engine isn’t really that famous, but it’s the engine that gave life to some of the most amazing games ever released, all RPGs. Bioware created the engine to use it for Neverwinter Nights, and we all know how that turned out. NWN is one of the best RPGs out there no doubt about that and Aurora really helped it. Featuring a classic top-down view, the effects, shadows and animation was really above it’s time. Knights of the Old Republic 1&2 used an upgraded version of this engine too, called Odyssey Engine. Also, CD Projekt heavily modified it and used it in The Witcher.

4. id Tech 3

The 3rd edition of the notorious game engine was developed by id Software for Quake 3, but at the time it looked so good, that many other developers bought it for their own games. id Tech 3 came with a lot of improvements and a greater detail level and fancy textures, but it’s greatest achievement was the animation capabilities. The models were now formed from 3 different parts “glued” together, used of course for the animation of the human/creature bodies.

Some of the games that used it: the first ever Call of Duty, Return to the Castle Wolfenstein, Star Wars Jedi Academy/Jedi Knight Outcast II and Medal of Honor Allied Assault + the two expansion packs (Spearhead and Breakthrough)

3. Source

The Source Engine is already a legend amongst the gamers.  Valve originally created Source Engine for Half Life 2, but then used it for all their games to this day. It was so advanced for its time that it was on the cover on every PC gaming magazine when it came out, after 5 years of development and postponing. The engine is capable of rendering amazing shadows and effects and  the latest versions offer HDR and all kind of new age effects. The perfect word to describe it would be revolutionary. Not to mention that it was used in Vampire the Masquerade – Bloodlines, one of the best games of all time.

2. Unreal Engine 2

The second version of the Unreal Engine is definitely the most successful engine of the last generation of video games. A humongous number of classics used it, simple because it was almost perfect. It worked for everything, from FPS to MMORPG. Epic games created it for Unreal 2 The Awakening, a game that received many prizes for most astonishing graphics of 2003, but a lot of other games used it to obtain fame: Lineage 2, the whole Splinter Cell series and SWAT 4 are just some of the masterpieces that used it.

1. Unreal Engine 3

Well well… I highly doubt that there’s anyone in this world who doesn’t know about Unreal Engine 3. Epic Games made this awesome piece of engineering for their third installment of the Unreal Tournament saga, but that was just the beginning. Since then, more than fifty games used it, lots of them being AAA titles such as Bioshock, Batman Arkham Asylum or Gears of War. It’s the most popular graphic engine of our time, and probably the first choice of every developer. It looks amazing, it’s optimized for older graphic cards, it’s high-end, it’s all you need. Unreal Engine 4 is on it’s way, and we can only hope it’s going to live up to its predecessors.

Batman: Arkham Asylum Hint: “Night Glider” Achievement / Trophy Made Easy

Climb to the highest point of Arkham Mansion in Arkham East (the clock tower) and glide down for an easy Night Glider Achievement / Trophy (Glide continuously for 100 meters).

Batman: Arkham Asylum Hint: High Combo Hint

When you fight a Titan henchman and a group of normal henchmen, stun a Titan, jump on his back and used him to hit the normal baddies. Your combo total goes up even you didn’t hit anything!

Batman: Arkham Asylum Hint: Catch! Achievement / Trophy

You’ll need to catch your own Batarang for the Catch! Achievement. To do so, head outside of a building and, with the Remote Controlled Batarang upgrade, toss your Batarang, Control it so it returns to Batman in a wide arch to satisfy the Trophy / Achievement requirement.

Batman: Arkham Asylum Hint: “Freeflow Perfection” Achievement / Trophy

Before attempting this Achievement / Trophy you should have Batman fully upgraded with all combo-based upgrades etc. You can do this fairly easily in the later rounds of the first Challenge, Intensive Treatment. You’ll need to perform the following moves in a single combo (don’t get hit, or blocked or let the combo counter run out) to get the Achievement / Trophy. NOTE: You can Evade as many times as you want to keep your combo going!

* Punch

* Stun

* Evade

* Counter

* Throw

* Instant Takedown

* Ground Takedown

After using the first few moves listed above plus a couple of Punches to get your combo meter above 5x, you can perform a Throw. Don’t let him hit anyone else or you may leave yourself without any opponents to continue the combo.

Punch a bit more and Evade as needed, then use the Instant Takedown when its available. Before using a Ground Takedown to complete this combo, use some Batarangs to stun anyone else nearby — if it’s all clear, go for the Ground Takedown to complete the “perfect” combo!

After solving the Ra’s Al Ghul riddle in Dr. Young’s Office (scan the toe tag of the cadaver hanging out of the morgue wall), return much later (after finishing the game, for instance) and the cadaver will be missing… Most curious!

The first Scarecrow Interview Tape features the names “Dr. Murphy” and “Dr. Combs.” This could very well be a reference to Cillian Murphy, the actor who played Scarecrow in Batman Begins and Jeffrey Combs who played the character in The New Batman Advetnures.

“Dr. Clooney report to Gynecology.” No doubt a nod to ladykiller and former Batman, George Clooney.

After you’ve snapped a shot of 23 of the 24 of the Chronicle of Arkham markers, you’ll need to track down the final marker. The key to solving the mystery of Arkham is the Warden, whom you last saw in the Security Control Room. Head to this room in the Penitentiary and enter the small central office area. Look on the floor for a circle of scribbles and etchings that say “BATMAN.” Enter Detective Mode and take an Environmental scan of this to complete the final Chronicle of Arkham Riddle.

The publisher also said today that the PC version will support Nvidia’s PhysX tech, which has allowed Rocksteady to “add that little bit extra” for PC fans, according to director Sefton Hill.

Bane (real name unknown) is a fictional character that appears in comic books published by DC Comics. The character first appeared in Batman: Vengeance of Bane #1 (January 1993), and was created by Chuck Dixon, Doug Moench and Graham Nolan. Bane has been one of Batman’s most intelligent and physically powerful foes. He is best known for breaking Batman’s back in the “Knightfall” story arc.

In most other media adaptations of the character, Bane is more simplistic and thug-like than his comic book counterpart, most notably in the 1997 film Batman & Robin, where the character is a mindless thug. The character was portrayed by Jeep Swenson in the film.
